Yardie Creek Campground

Yardie Creek is a small, remote campground situated beside the Osprey Sanctuary Zone of Ningaloo Marine Park. The adjacent shoreline is a designated special purpose zone where shore-based fishing is permitted.

Yardie Creek Campground is a small, beachside Cape Range National Park campground near the Yardie Creek gorge walks. People rate it highly for the location, sunsets, stargazing and the camp host vibe, but it’s basic and books out fast. Bring water, expect long-drop toilets, and plan around the creek crossing if travelling south.

What People Say About Yardie Creek Campground

The highlights

  • Brilliant camp hosts and atmosphere – several reviewers call out hosts (including Jim) as welcoming, helpful and up for a chat
  • Prime location – easy beach access plus a short walk to the Yardie Creek Nature Walk and Gorge Trail
  • Great sunsets and night skies – low light pollution makes for standout Milky Way viewing
  • A solid base for exploring – good for day trips along the Ningaloo coast (fuel up first)
  • Simple, well-kept setup – long-drop toilets are commonly described as clean and maintained

The trade-offs

  • Very limited facilities – no showers, no power, and you need to bring your own water
  • Sites can be small and hard underfoot – soft sand over very hard ground can make tent pegs a pain
  • Wind exposure – being right on the beach can mean gusty nights
  • Bookings are strict – multiple reviews mention the system is unforgiving, even when sites appear empty
  • Access depends on direction – sealed access from the north, but the Yardie Creek crossing to the south can be sandy and tide-dependent

Conditions and suitability

  • National Park rules apply (no dogs)
  • Book ahead and carry extra fuel and water if basing here and driving to Exmouth
  • Best for self-sufficient campers who value location over amenities
