North Mandu Campground

Tucked beside the Mandu Sanctuary Zone of Ningaloo Marine Park, North Mandu is a quiet, small-scale campground with limited facilities and unpowered sites. It’s ideal for self-sufficient travellers looking for a low-key stay close to the coast.

North Mandu is a small, secluded campground with only a handful of sites tucked behind the dunes. Facilities are simple but generally well maintained, and the location offers peaceful camping close to some of the best beaches and snorkelling areas in Cape Range. The immediate shoreline is pebbled, but iconic swimming spots like Turquoise Bay are only a short drive away.

What Visitors Say About North Mandu Campground

Visitors commonly describe North Mandu as a peaceful and compact campground, ideal for travellers who prefer quieter locations rather than larger camping areas. With only a small number of sites available, it often feels more private and relaxed than busier coastal spots.

Cleanliness of the facilities is mentioned frequently, particularly the toilets, although like most remote campgrounds conditions can vary depending on maintenance schedules and weather. Being prepared for a basic national park setup helps set the right expectations.

The campground sits just behind the dunes rather than directly on a sandy swimming beach. The nearby shoreline is mostly pebbled and not always ideal for swimming, but this is rarely seen as a drawback because several of the region’s best beaches are only minutes away. South Mandu and Turquoise Bay are popular nearby options for snorkelling and swimming.

Wind conditions can occasionally affect comfort, which is common along this stretch of coast, but many visitors still rate the location highly due to its natural setting and proximity to reef experiences.

Overall, reviews suggest North Mandu suits campers who:

  • prefer smaller, quieter campgrounds
  • are comfortable with simple facilities
  • want easy access to nearby snorkelling beaches
  • enjoy nature-focused camping rather than beachfront caravan style sites

For travellers wanting a calm base near some of Ningaloo’s best water access points, it’s often considered a very well located option.
