Bungarra Campground

Bungarra is a small, remote campground located approximately 600 metres from a designated shore-based fishing zone within Ningaloo Marine Park. With just five compacted gravel campsites, this low-impact site offers a quiet stay close to the coast for those with their own gear and a sense of adventure.

Bungarra Campground is a small inland campground set slightly back from the shoreline, offering a quieter and more sheltered stay than the beachfront sites. With only a handful of camps and a short walk to the water, it suits travellers who want proximity to the coast without being directly exposed to wind and salt.

What Visitors Say About Bungarra Campground

Visitors often describe Bungarra as a more low-key alternative to the beachfront campgrounds. It’s not right on the water, but still close enough to feel connected to the coast, with views across the sea and about a 10-to-15-minute walk to reach the beach.

The campground itself is small, with only a few sites available. That limited capacity means it tends to feel quiet and uncrowded compared to larger areas in the park.

Facilities are simple and consistent with the rest of Cape Range National Park – basic bush toilets and little else. Campers generally arrive self-sufficient and treat it as a base rather than a serviced campground.

Overall, reviews suggest Bungarra suits campers who:

  • prefer a sheltered campsite rather than direct beachfront exposure
  • don’t mind walking to reach the water
  • want a quieter stay away from busier coastal camps
  • are travelling self-contained with minimal reliance on facilities

It’s less about immediate beach access and more about a calm place to camp while still staying close to the Ningaloo coastline.
